Mona Jas is an artist living and working in Berlin. After graduating as „Meisterschülerin“ at the Berlin University of the Arts, she received a postgraduate scholarship from the Berlin Senate. From 2008 to 2010, Jas was the first artist to receive the scholarship Kunstvermittlung / Art Mediation from the Neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst (nGbK). Her work has been presented amongst others at the BM Contemporary Art Center, TR, at Axel Lapp Projects in Berlin, at the yuka gallery for the Art Biennial for Visual Arts Varda, BG, at the gallery ý in Minsk, BY, at the gallery ES contemporary art in Meran, IT, at UTOPICS Swiss Plastics Exhibition Biel/Bienne, CH, at Gleisdreieck Art in Public Space Berlin, at museion in Bozen, IT, at the Süddeutscher Kunstverein, at Europe: Art in Public Space at the Bundestag underground station in Berlin and at the Brandenburgischer Kunstverein. The development and research of artistic processes in teaching and mediation form a focal point of her practice as an artist. Mona Jas initiates alternative networks and participates in „wandering formats“ in order to translate experiences into different spaces or constellations. She is concerned with fragility, accompanied by restlessness and brittleness, which she artistically works on. Since 2015 she has represented the field of cultural education and art mediation at the weißensee kunsthochschule berlin as an honorary professor. Mona Jas was a member of the faculty of documenta 14 in Kassel and Athens, GR. She was also head of the Mediation of the 10th Berlin Biennale for contemporary art.
